Entry Requirements
- Five GCSEs at grade C or above which must include English, Mathematics, Science and two other academic subject.
- You will also need a riding ability that is close to British Horse Society (BHS) Stage 2 standard and some experience of working with horses.
- Due to the nature of horses at the College, students should weigh no more than 13 stone; non-riding stud options are available.
English language requirements
If you do not have English as a first language, you will normally be required to demonstrate an IELTS overall score (or equivalent) of:
- 5.5 with a minimum of 5.0 in all elements for a Further Education course
- 5.5 with a minimum of 5.0 in all elements for a Foundation degree, Higher Certificate or Higher Diploma
- 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in all elements for a degree
- 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in all elements for a postgraduate degree
If you have lower scores, you may be accepted onto a Pre-sessional English Language course, which can lead to entry to the appropriate programme of study.
Curriculum
This course is made up of: (core units) fit tack, behaviour and welfare, animal biology, yard and stable management, horse nutrition, animal health, investigative project, breeding and stud practices, work experience, fitness and training, rehabilitation and therapy, Equitation Practical, (Optional units) Youngstock Training, Equestrian Teaching, Riding on the Flat, Riding over Fences.
