Thursday, March 24, 2016 - UWL student Jennifer Santner has been awarded with the Gold Service Scholarship award 2016.
The prestigious award was presented to Jennifer by The Queen, a patron of the award, at a ceremony held at Claridge’s last month.
The Gold Service Scholarship is an annual competition for young, front of house professionals. Jennifer competed against seven other national finalists in a challenge which consisted of planning, preparing and serving a three course lunch, to a table of four industry experts.
Jennifer will receive a year of expert mentoring from Diego Masciaga at The Waterside Inn and Silvano Giraldin, Director of Le Gavroche. She will also have the opportunity to work with the Royal Household, visit the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in Europe, attend the Mondriaan Hotel School in the Netherlands, and visit the vineyards of Champagne.
She said, ‘It has been a very exciting start to 2016. Meeting the Queen was a unique experience. I am very happy and proud to be this year’s Gold Scholar and am very much looking forward to this year and all the mentoring and experiences to come. I am sure my stage at the Waterside Inn and at Le Gavroche will be very beneficial to my career.’
Jennifer is the Restaurant Manager at the Fenchurch Restaurant at London’s Sky Garden. She completed the Foundation Degree Hospitality Management course at the London College of Hospitality and Tourism.
Course leader Ariane Lengyel commented, ‘I would like to congratulate Jennifer on this amazing accomplishment. Jennifer was an excellent student who always showed dedication to her studies at UWL. I am sure that she will continue to shine as a star in the exciting world of hospitality.’
