Bachelor of Technology (Hons) Construction Management
About
The Bachelor of Technology (Honours) in Construction Management program provides a comprehensive understanding of the entire construction and development process. From the initial client brief issued to the lead consultant to the design, planning, construction, completion, and maintenance of facilities, students gain in-depth knowledge of every stage.
Key areas of specialisation include construction technology, measurements and estimation, contract administration, construction project management, and computer applications in construction. Students are introduced to current technologies, industry best practices, and essential skills early in the program, applying them through assignments and final-year projects. Topics covered include Building Information Modelling (BIM), surveying, value engineering, project management, and contract administration. Industry exposure is a core component of the curriculum. Students participate in site visits and interact with industry professionals through guest lectures on various construction-related topics.
UTAR maintains strong collaborations with the University of Kitakyushu and Shibaura Institute of Technology, fostering research partnerships and student exchange programs. These initiatives offer students valuable opportunities to visit partner institutions, exchange knowledge and ideas, and gain cross-cultural experiences that enrich their academic journey.
