About
The Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) empowers students to deepen their understanding of technology through a blend of theories and practical applications across three specializations: computer and network security, data analytics, and software engineering. Additionally, the program includes courses such as principles of Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing & administration, and human-computer interaction, providing students with exposure to cutting-edge technologies practiced in Malaysia.
Furthermore, this program equips students with a solid understanding of computer ethics and Cyber Laws, computer forensic investigation, and cryptography & network security.
The integration of Microsoft content and cloud-based lab into the curriculum enables students to earn up to 20 Digital Badges or Certifications based on courses enriched with Microsoft Content*. Additionally, the program offers credit transfer options, allowing students to pursue their desired degree in a shorter time frame and at a reduced cost by transferring credits from prior educational or learning experiences.
Through APEL, students can leverage their prior learning experiences to gain admission, further minimizing both their study duration and costs.

Entry Requirements
Programme Entry Requirements
You must meet the following requirements in order to be considered for entry to the UNITAR Bachelor’s Programme:
-
Pass STPM with a minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in two (2) subjects ; OR
- A pass in STAM with a minimum grade of Jayyid in any TWO (2) subjects; OR
- Pass Matriculation or Foundation with minimum CGPA of 2.00 ; OR
- Any Diploma in Science and Technology (Level 4,MQF) with minimum CGPA of 2.75; OR
- Any other Diploma (Level 4, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.75. Candidate Candidates with a CGPA below 2.75 but more than 2.00 maybe admitted subject to a thorough internal evaluation process;
AND a credit in:
- Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent; OR
- Candidates with a pass inMathematics, need to take a reinforcement Mathematics with appropriate topics in the discipline of Information Technology and Information Systems at the beginning of the study; OR
- Diploma in Computing (Level 4, MQF) or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50. Candidates with a CGPA below 2.50 but more than 2.00 may be admitted subject to a thorough internal evaluation process; OR
- Any other Diploma in Science and Technology or Business Studies with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 may be admitted, subject to a rigorous internal assessment process and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent; OR
- Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM) / Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) in computing fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 subject to the approval of the Senate and MUST attend bridging courses; OR
- Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia (DLKM) in Computing fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 subjected to the approval of the Senate and MUST attend bridging courses.
Language Requirements
International Students
- Minimum score of 5.0 for IELTS; OR its equivalent
Local Students
- Exempted from University English Courses:
i. Distinction in SPM / SPMV English
ii. MUET Band 4, 5 and 6
iii. A Pass in English Course at a previous institution - Required to take English Preparatory 2:
i. Credit in SPM / SPMV English
ii. MUET Band 1, 2 and 3 - Required to take both English Preparatory 1 and 2:
i. No credit in SPM / SPMV English
