Diploma in Information Technology

The Diploma in Information Technology programme is designed for both individuals with no prior computing experience and those aiming to build careers in computer-based fields, especially in programming and information systems. Spanning 2.5 years, the programme offers a comprehensive curriculum that covers essential IT subjects, including programming, databases, multimedia, and networks. This well-rounded education ensures that students develop a strong foundation in information technology and practical technical skills.

In addition to IT-related courses, the programme includes subjects such as marketing, business communication, and problem-solving to equip students with versatile, transferable skills. These skills enable them to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The Faculty collaborates with major multinational corporations, providing students with opportunities to apply their theoretical knowledge to real-world projects during co-operative placements. Upon completion, graduates will possess a blend of personal, professional, and organizational skills, preparing them for further studies or entry into the dynamic IT industry.

Academic Requirements

• Possess SPM with at least THREE (3) credits in any subjects (inclusive of Mathematics or any equivalent qualification); OR

• A pass in Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum grade of C [Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) 2.00] in any subject or equivalent qualification and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent; OR

• A pass in Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with a minimum grade of Maqbul (Pass) and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent; OR

• Possess SKM Level 3 and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent; OR

• A Certificate (Level 3, MQF) in any qualification with at least a CGPA of 2.00; OR

• A pass in any qualification equivalent to certificate (Level 3, MQF); OR

• Other relevant & equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government. 

Notes:

• Candidates with a pass in Mathematics at an SPM level or its equivalent may be admitted if the certificate programme contains subjects in Mathematics that are equivalent to Mathematics at SPM level.

• Candidates with a pass in Mathematics at SPM level and without a related certificate need to take a bridging  Mathematics course with appropriate topics in the discipline of Computing at the beginning of the study.

• Candidates with a credit in a Computing-related subject at SPM level or its equivalent may be given preferential consideration.

• CEFR: B1 (with at least 2 skills at B1)

• In the event that the English Language Requirements are not met, applicants will be required to take Basic English and English Foundation for in-sessional academic enhancement concurrently with the programme.

• Applicants who have an academic qualification from a higher learning institution which uses the English Language as a medium of instruction may be granted an exemption from the University Language Requirements.
