Diploma of Engineering

Programme Objectives

1. Solve technical problems in civil engineering and to work in multidisciplinary teams in proposing alternative solutions.
2. Demonstrate semi-professional competencies in civil engineering via promotions and / or positions of increasing responsibility and / or successful achievements in business opportunities.
3. Involve in community / or professional organizations / or make contributions towards society.
4. Continue studies at higher level and self development as professional.

A) GENERAL MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Obtained a pass in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent qualifications, with a minimum of FIVE (5) credits (GRADE C) inclusive of a credit in Bahasa Melayu, and a pass (GRADE E) in History at the SPM level.

B) SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

1. Obtained credits (GRADE C) in the following subjects:

• Mathematics
• Physics
• ONE (1) of the subjects in Science/Technical/Vocational education
• ONE (1) other subject (NOT inclusive of previously listed subjects with credits)

2. Obtained a pass (GRADE E) in the following subjects:

• English Language
•  Additional Mathematics

3. Not having colour blindness or any disabilities which may hinder practical work, OR

A) GENERAL MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Obtained a pass in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent qualifications, with a minimum of FOUR (4) credits (GRADE C) inclusive of a credit in Bahasa Melayu subject, and a pass (GRADE E) in History subject at the SPM level.

B) SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

1. Obtained credits (GRADE C) in THREE (3) other subjects (NOT inclusive of previously listed subjects with credits).
2. Obtained a pass (GRADE E) in the following subjects:

• Mathematics
• Additional Mathematics
• Physics/Chemistry
• English Language

3. Obtained a pass in Pre-Diploma (Engineering), and obtained credits (GRADE C) in all subjects, with a minimum CGPA of 2.50.

Students who are admitted to the university without credits in Mathematics are required to take Mathematics at the SPM level and obtain a minimum of a credit (GRADE C) before graduating in order to obtain the award of a diploma conferred by the University.

Communication Skills, Engineering Mathematics III, Civil Engineering Laboratory I, Mechanics of Materials & Structures, Fluid Mechanics, Soil Mechanics, Co-Curriculum Service Learning, Project Management & Construction Practice, Civil Engineering Construction, Structural Steel Design, Theory of Structure, Highway and Traffic Engineering.

Year 3

Contract & Estimation, Final Year Project, Civil Engineering Laboratory II, Reinforced Concrete Design, Hydraulics & Hydrology, Geotechnical Engineering, Industrial Training, Industrial Training Report.
