Innovation leads the 21st-century economy, and the entrepreneur, fundamentally an innovator and a job creator, is elemental to modern business. Successfully incorporating entrepreneurship across the full spectrum of its curriculum, Management and Science University (MSU) proudly takes home the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia award for Best Entrepreneurial Private University 2016.
Its winning combination of curriculum, ecosystem, and commitment distinguishes the MSU entrepreneurship blueprint. A commitment to develop highly employable graduates equipped with the entrepreneur mindset, commanding leadership, and capability to create and innovate translates into their mindset cultivation, skills development, and capacity building within the University’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. With 98.6% securing employment within six months of graduating, MSU graduates position the University in the national top spot for graduate employability.
Mindset cultivation efforts by the University are facilitated by its commitment to international exposure and global mobility. The MSU-led ASEAN Scholars on International Education Network (ASCIEN) pioneers internationalization of regional higher education, while links with over 40 partner institutions worldwide collectively facilitate mobility programmes involving student internship, leadership, and exchange. Together with MSU offshore campuses in Bangalore, Colombo, and Jakarta, and learning centres in Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Central Asia, and the Middle East, the world is a learning stage for the MSU student.
Undertaking a myriad of entrepreneurial activities are the MSU Centres of Excellence, which comprise the Leadership & Entrepreneurship Advancement Institute (LEAD), the Information Technology and Innovation Centre (ITIC), and the International Centre for Halal Studies (ICHLAS). Flagship programmes across all faculties encourage the exploration of new ideas and new territories, while an array of on-campus facilities and commercial platforms such as MODAWORLD (MW) provide practical opportunities for budding student entrepreneurs to hone their skills.
With its 35-year roots tracing back to the University’s social entrepreneur President Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, entrepreneurship is the MSU DNA. Winning Best Entrepreneurial Private University 2016 proves the effectiveness of the Management and Science University (MSU) approach to building future-ready economic competitiveness into human capital the unconventional, innovative, entrepreneur’s way.
