Foundation in Science (ODL)

The Foundation in Science program provides a comprehensive pathway for students aspiring to pursue undergraduate degrees in the sciences. Tailored to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills, this program serves as a preparatory phase for entry into our undergraduate science degrees.

Upon successful completion of prerequisite courses and exams, students will seamlessly transition to the next level of study without any additional steps required, ensuring a smooth progression towards obtaining their undergraduate degrees. The curriculum includes coursework and assessments designed to foster a holistic learning experience, encompassing not only fundamental scientific principles but also cultivating transferable skills such as public speaking, critical analysis, and leadership.

1. Continuing studies in the field of Medicine:
a. Have a Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) with at least Grade B in 5 subjects, namely Mathematics or Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and one other subject, as well as Honours in Malay and English or other equivalent qualifications; or
b. Passed O-Level with at least Grade B in 5 subjects, namely Mathematics or Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and one other subject, as well as Honours/Grade C in English language teaching or other equivalent qualifications with it; or
c. Passed the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least Grade B4 in 3 subjects, i.e., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics or Additional Mathematics or other equivalent qualifications.

2. Further studies in the field of Dentistry:
a. Have SPM with at least Grade B in 5 subjects namely Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics (or Additional Mathematics) and one other subject, as well as Honours in Malay and English or other equivalent qualifications; or
b. Passed O-Level with at least Grade B in 5 subjects, i.e., Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics (or Additional Mathematics) and one other subject, as well as Honours/Grade C in English or other equivalent qualifications with it; or
c. Passed UEC with at least Grade B4 in 4 subjects, which are Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics or Additional Mathematics and one other subject or other equivalent qualification.

3. Further studies in the field of Pharmacy:
a. Have SPM with at least Grade B in 5 subjects namely Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics (or Additional Mathematics) and one other subject, as well as Honours in Malay and English or other equivalent qualifications; or
b. Pass O-Level by getting at least Grade B in 5 subjects which are Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics (or Additional Mathematics) and one subject which other as well as Honours/Grade C in English or other qualifications equivalent to it; or

4. Extension of studies to other fields of Science:
a. Have SPM with at least Honours in 5 subjects, including Mathematics and 2 Science subjects and pass in Malay and English or other equivalent qualifications; or
b. Passed O-Level with at least Honours/Grade C in 5 subjects, including Mathematics and 2 Science subjects, as well as English Language subjects or other equivalent qualifications; or
c. Passed UEC with at least Grade B in Mathematics and 2 Science subjects and pass in Malay and English or other equivalent qualifications.

5. Further studies in the field of Engineering:
a. Have an SPM with Honours in 5 subjects, including Mathematics and one of the Physical Science subjects or other equivalent qualifications; or
b. Passed O-Level with Honours / Grade C in 5 subjects, including Mathematics and one of the Physical Science subjects or other equivalent qualifications; or
c. Pass UEC with at least Grade B in 3 subjects, including Mathematics and one of the Physical Sciences subjects or other equivalent qualifications. Further studies in the field of Built Environment.

6. Further studies in the field of Built Environment:
a. Have SPM with Honours in 5 subjects, including Mathematics or other equivalent qualifications; or
b. Passed O-Level with Honours / Grade C in 5 subjects, including Mathematics or other equivalent qualifications; or
c. Pass UEC with at least Grade B in 3 subjects, including Mathematics or other equivalent qualifications.

7. Continuing studies into the field of Allied Health Sciences:
a. Have SPM with Honors in 5 subjects, including 3 of the following subjects:
• Biology
• Physics
• Mathematics
• Chemistry
• English Language

or

b. Passed O-Level with Honors / Grade C in 5 subjects, including 3 of the following subjects:
• Biology
• Physics
• Mathematics
• Chemistry
• English Language

or

c. Pass UEC with at least Grade B in 3 of the following subjects:
• Biology
• Physics
• Mathematics
• Chemistry
• English language.

English Proficiency Requirements (International Students):

• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) of 500
• International English Language Testing System (IELTS) of 5.0 or any other equivalent qualification.

If the student does not fulfill the above criteria, Lincoln University College must offer an English proficiency course to ensure that student is proficient in the language to the standard required for the program.
