About
This programme is based on research and is evaluated by oral presentations and reports at several stages, including a Proposal Defence, regular half-yearly progress monitoring at research colloquiums, Work Completion Defence, Thesis Examination, and Viva Voce. To get the necessary expertise to conduct their research effectively, students must complete one taught module on Research Methodology. Regular conversations with supervisors are anticipated to assure study direction, as well as the quality and significance of the findings.
Students enrolled in the Research Degree program have the opportunity to transition to a PhD candidate if they meet the following criteria: demonstrating excellent progress in their research, showcasing the potential of their project to extend to PhD level, and passing a rigorous assessment. Upon successful conversion, students will no longer be considered Research Degree candidates but will instead be recognized as PhD candidates. Importantly, their candidature start date will be adjusted to their original Research Degree registration date. This streamlined process enables students to obtain a PhD qualification within a shorter timeframe, bypassing the need to complete a Masters program.
