Curriculum
The course offers a mix of traditional biotechnology and management modules with an introduction to the cutting edge of research at the molecular level.
The focus is not simply on gaining in-depth current knowledge but also on the methodology used in obtaining that knowledge. We make use of recent research papers to inform class discussion.
In addition to taught modules in the field, we will also give you training in research processes. This culminates in an individual research project which will give you the opportunity to demonstrate your own particular skills and abilities.
You will have the choice of undertaking your final project on a laboratory-based or a management-based topic.
As an MSc student, you will complete four taught modules, including Research Skills, before undertaking your personal research project.
To gain the PG Certificate you would need to match the MSc course without doing the research project.
For a PG Certificate, which takes one year part-time, you would need to complete two modules – Molecular Biology and Disease, and Planning Change.
