About
Since its inception, Taylor’s College has provided a platform for countless Malaysian youths to achieve their full potential. The launch of its first offering (an Australian pre-university programme) in 1969 established the college as a pioneer in pre-university studies in Malaysia.
SACE International, formerly known as South Australia Matriculation (SAM), is one of Malaysia’s most popular pre-university programmes. It awards students with the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), paving their way to top universities around the world.

Curriculum
EXAMINATION STRUCTURE
Our SACE International programme follows a linear structure, where students study 5 subjects throughout the entire programme duration. As this programme offers 70% college-based assessment and 30% external assessment, students will learn to manage continuous assessments from the subjects. The school-based assessment is sent to the SACE Board of South Australia for moderation at the end of the examination. While each subject’s continuous assessment can contribute to up to 70% of their total grade, students must be consistent with their work without neglecting the 30% of the final examination.
All assessments and grades are converted into the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) at the end of the programme.
What is ATAR?
The Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) score is calculated based on the student’s results at the end of the programme. This score is calculated based on the four highest scoring subjects, and 50% from the 5th highest scoring subject.
As ATAR is a rank and not a mark; it provides a measure of a student's overall academic achievement as compared to his or her peers. This means that the student’s overall percentage from the five subjects will be used to show his or her ranking relative to others. For example, an ATAR of 90 means you performed better than 90% of your peers who took this programme.
SUBJECT OVERVIEW
Accounting
Through this subject, students learn how to manage their own financial affairs. They gain knowledge and skills related to accounting processes for organisational and business applications. They also develop a greater understanding of accounting concepts and standards along with their use to generate financial reports.
Biology
Students explore the dynamic nature of biological science and use investigative skills, knowledge and understanding to critically and creatively find solutions to biologicals issues which impact their lives, society and the environment.
Chemistry
Students develop and extend their understanding of how the environment is chemically constructed and the impact from its interaction with human activities. Students explore and understand science as a human endeavour to address major real-life challenges now and in the future (for example, in energy use).
Economics
Students learn about the structure and operation of various economic systems. They develop an understanding of how economic systems and institutions help satisfy people's needs and wants. Students analyse, evaluate, and apply economic models. They make forecasts about economic change and evaluate issues in local, national, and global settings.
English as an Additional Language
This subject focuses on the development and use of skills and strategies in communication, comprehension, language and text analysis, and text creation.
Students develop confidence in creating texts for different purposes. Students will broaden their understanding of sociocultural and sociolinguistic aspects of English through their study of texts and language. They develop skills for research and academic study.
Legal Studies
Explore the heritage and dynamic nature of the Australian legal system. Students learn how it responds and contributes to social change. They also gain insight into law-making, dispute resolution processes, and the administration of justice. They investigate legal perspectives on contemporary issues in society. Students reflect on and make informed judgments about the strengths and weaknesses of the Australian legal system.
Mathematical Methods
Mathematical Methods helps students develop a strong understanding of calculus and statistics. Through functions, derivatives, integrals and mathematically modelling physical processes, students gain a deep understanding of the physical world through a sound knowledge of relationships involving rates of change. Students use statistics to describe and analyse phenomena that involve uncertainty and variation.
Nutrition
Students investigate the latest scientific information on nutrients as well as social and environmental issues in nutrition. They explore the links between food, health, and diet-related diseases. They also investigate methods of food production and distribution that affect the quantity and quality of food. Students gain insight to factors that influence food choices and reflect on issues related to nutrition with an inclusive perspective.
Physics
Students will study the laws and theories that govern the motion and behaviour of objects and matter, from the smallest sub-atomic to the largest cosmos. They gather evidence from investigations on how physics help improve the world and develop solutions to our everyday problems. Students will learn the finer details of experimental data collection, how to critically analyse and interpret data collected, and understand the use of scientific apparatus.
Psychology
Psychology enables students to understand behaviours of their own and others. Psychological knowledge can be applied to improve the outcomes and quality of experience in various areas of life, such as education, intimate relationships, child rearing, employment and leisure. Psychology builds on the scientific method by involving students in the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, as well as developing their analytical and critical thinking skills.
Specialist Mathematics
Specialist Mathematics helps deepen students’ mathematical knowledge, skills, and understanding. It provides opportunities for students to develop their skills in using rigorous mathematical arguments, proofs, and models. Students will study functions and calculus which are employed in tertiary courses such as mathematical sciences, engineering, computer science, and physical sciences. Specialist Mathematics is designed to be studied in conjunction with Mathematical Methods.
