Entry Requirements

All applicants will be offered a place on successful completion of a diagnostic assessment. We do advise that to take the diagnostic assessment applicants need to be able to communicate competently in speech and writing before starting the course. This course is not a basic course in English but intended to follow the national curriculum for Secondary Education in English Language.

Curriculum

Studying areas:

  • How to produce non-fiction texts by writing clearly, effectively and imaginatively e.g. a letter, speech or article. This will provide the basis for the final examination.
  • How to present a variety of topics through Speaking and Listening activities delivered individually and in groups.
  • Reading and responding to texts, focusing on how to write about a text. Creative writing where you will be required to produce your own short story or article.
  • You will also be asked to investigate how we use spoken language in different situations.
