Entry Requirements
In general, entry to a Foundation Certificate course at SIC requires you to have passed Grade 12 (or equivalent) to a specific level.
Please note that students seeking either a Science or Engineering progression, must have the following:
- Science: both the equivalent of Maths GCSE grade C and Science GCSE grade C
- Engineering: the equivalent of Maths GCSE grade C
English language entry requirements
UKBA regulations stipulate that all International Students who wish to study at university level in the UK must have taken a Secure English Language Test (SELT).
Curriculum
Foundation Certificate courses contain three elements:

Develop key academic skills including research, writing, presentation and analysis.
Foundation Courses
Subject modules
Understand the basics of your chosen area of study before focusing on the particular topics and skills you will need most in your chosen undergraduate degree course.

A Learning Support Tutor will work with you throughout your academic course at SIC, and support you in achieving your study goals. Through regular meetings, your tutor will ensure that you receive the best possible education before you begin your degree at The University of Sheffield. They are on hand to offer valuable advice and to help you develop your study skills and subject knowledge.
