Curriculum

Overview Course Content:

  • Floral Art: (Double Module) - A floral art and design production researching modern design trends and styles. This module aims to develop your personal style of design and construction within floral art. This module encourages you to create a public exhibition of your Floral Art design work.
  • Floristry Enterprise: - An in depth study of running and working within a practice. You will develop the ability to identify issues affecting the success of floristry enterprises and develop appropriate solutions. You will appraise floristry enterprises and develop a business model which could be used for self employment on completion of the course.
  • Personal Planning and Career Development: - To further develop an understanding of marketing and self promotion for professionals within the industry. You will develop your own philosophy of design and create a final professional portfolio which echoes this. Self promotional marketing materials to enhance exhibitions in other modules will be produced. Additional areas of study will include Client/Designer relationships, obligations, professional ethics and responsibilities including issues of design ownership and protecting copyright. You are encouraged to work with other professional specialists as a client including photographers, graphic designers and web site technicians.
  • Current Issues in Floral Art and Design: - This module aims to support and encourage ambitious design work, research and development through understanding international/global development and trends in the floral industry. You will develop technical competence in a wide range of international floristry skills.
  • Dissertation: (Single Module) - This module allows you to research an area in detail. It need not be directly related to a floral art and design. Your Tutor will guide you as to suitable topics to enable you to find sources of information. Your dissertation might be in a particular specialism that you wish to progress upon graduation.
